Iris Apfel

The 90 year old fashion icon was the subject of a 2005 MoMA exhibit and subsequent book, she is the subject of an upcoming documentary and is set to launch a line of accessories with the Home Shopping Network available this September. Mrs. Apfel is an icon because of her fearless quirky style and “more is more” approach to accessories. The New York Times art critic Roberta Smith once wrote, “Before multiculturalism was a word, Mrs. Apfel was wearing it.” Treasured Trinket is all about the love of accessorizing in a unique way. Not being afraid to add a crazy earring or necklace to any outfit whether your clothing style preppy, vintage or classic. We love Mrs. Apfel and every reworked dress, faux amber pendant and lucite bangle she’s ever worn. Check out some of the images below and be inspired! We most certainly were.

Companion book to Mrs. Apfel’s touring museum exhibit.

Fashion Night Out

Fashion Night Out is upon us again. The brain child of Vogue editor Anna Wintour whose goal was to help a depressed retail market in New York City, FNO is now an international event celebrating three years strong. In New York the celebration is bigger and better. Miss Piggy is scheduled to appear at the Ace Hotel, Solange Knowles is DJing at the 5th Avenue Sephora store and at Lord and Taylor, Angela and Margherita Missoni will be on hand at a pop up shop where you can shop the much anticipated Missoni x Target collection early, and Dwyane Wade will be in SOHO with QVC offering style tips. The list of scheduled appearances by designers, stylists, celebrities and fashionistas is pretty extensive and you can check it all out at the FNO official website. You can also get detailed updates via their Facebook page.

The cast from Glee has been tapped to be the official spokespeople for FNO and filmed a music video for David Bowie’s “Fashion.” Enjoy!

What's in a color

Things aren't looking good for everyone's favorite scarlet soled shoemaker Mr. Christian Louboutin. Chris (as I like to refer to him) initiated a lawsuit against designer rival Yves Saint Laurent back in April and today a judge says a win is not likely. Chris claims YSL infringed on his trademark by creating a shoe with a red bottom. A loss would mean everyone from Chanel to Payless could start painting the soles of their shoes with the eye catching "Chinese Red". The red bottom has become a major status symbol in our modern times. What do you think? Should Chris be allowed to trademark the color?

Our good friends over at Bklyn Queens have turned a year old! Check them out for amazing vintage clothing finds and hilarious blog posts. In celebration they hosted a fabulous shin dig! Some of the attendees rocked their Trinkets.

A wonderful time was had by all and congrats to Bklyn Queens!!

Summertime Fine

Treasured Trinket is based in the magical city that is New York. And to say it gets pretty hot here in the summer months is to say Christian Louboutin makes shoes you would cut a pinky finger off for. Just us? Ok. None the less it gets HOT! Too hot for shoes, too hot for a bra, too hot for clothes! And every morning, you wake up thinking “What can I wear that won’t show the sweat rolling down my back?” Just us again? Well anywho, here are some pics of ladies looking cool, calm, and well accessorized. Be inspired. And enjoy the heat, all too soon we’ll in parkas and boots and gloves (Oh My!)

Erica Weiner

Not all awesome jewelry is featured here on TT and we know you savvy shoppers want to stay in the know. Here’s a little info on a fab chick who sells both vintage and handcrafted pieces as well. We were so inspired…..

Every girl loves to throw her own brand of bling in the mix, whether it's chunky costume baubles or something more refined. And with our favorite season for glam-layering and accessorizing approaching, we thought this the perfect time to clue you in on our favorite rising star in jewelry. Erica Weiner, who launched her handmade jewelry line out of her Lower East Side apartment six years ago, is blowing up. From quality original designs to a selection of vintage wedding rings (from as far back as the 1800s), Erica Weiner is building cred with jewelry shoppers and press alike. Her line's flagship shop opened in Nolita last November, allowing fans instant access to affordable handmade pieces and antique estate jewelry (and the buzz was audible). She’s soon to release a line for Club Monaco, so it won't be long before the masses descend and these pieces become NYC's hardest-to-find. Luckily, access to Erica Weiner can be exclusively yours.
